Artist's Comments

I spent all night shooting a skull and some cherries so I could do a photo-manipulation piece of a cherry with some teeth. I spent a couple of hours photoshopping it and couldn't get it to look anything like I wanted it to. Oh well. At least I got some practice with use of shadows and extreme close-ups. Also got to use a shiny white background for the cherry (even though it ended up looking pretty flat), which was my first time not using a bolt of cloth.

I have so much fun just taking the pictures. I am so weird.

Please let me know what I can do to shoot better. I am just in this to have fun and learn. I appreciate any advice.

It's not weird to have fun shooting pictures! That's half of the appeal of still life photos. It's a blast to take an everyday item and turn it into a piece of art!

And as far as the picture goes, I don't think it could get a whole lot better. Well done!

Thank you very much. I have a light that I got from Home Depot and covered it with white cloth from WalMart. All for under $15. And I have material to spare for other shots. All that just for the shadow. Glad that you noticed.

I think you could have taken more shots , and one in a lower angle to get the end of the stim in focus, but in most pictures you can't get everything in focus, but the main object would look better. I think it is a nice picture to shoot, and I might think that because I have a fruit orchard, but I don't think it is just me. I have seen wet fruit on stainless steel look nice. This is nice the way it is, even if it don't sound like it from me.

Nice picture, the lightning is really well managed, which is one of the most difficult thing in macro. Great pic! It could illustrate an article on Cherries! ;-)

I think the shot is really clean and neat. I love the colour contrast. Great job.
